Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams put on quite a show last night, each securing the homecoming win.
On the men’s side, the Eagle’s snuck out ahead for a 67-66 victory over Lindenwood University, but the women soared ahead with their 64-54 win over University of Missouri-St. Louis!
In the first quarter, the Screaming Eagle’s put away 18 points to UMSL’s 9. Hannah Haithcock locked away 7 points, Kiara Moses, 3, Addy Blackwell, 6, and 2 for Ashley Johnson.
The second quarter secured another 16 points for the Eagle’s, with Hannah Haithcock scoring 5 points, Addy Blackwell, 2, Ashyln Brown, 3, Tara Robbe with 2, Kiara Moses, 2, and Ashley Johnson scoring 2; keeping a 9 point lead over UMSL (34-25.)
USI’s lead shrank slightly to 7 points in 3rd quarter (45-38,) but still demonstrated an outstanding show out from Hannah Haithcock, 4 points, Addy Blackwell, 1, Ashlynn Brown, 2, Ashley Johnson, 2, and finishing up the quarter was 2 points from Emma DeHart.
USI finished strong in the fourth quarter, scoring 19 more points, with Hannah Haithcock once again leading the charge. She secured 5 points this quarter, Tara Robbe, 2, Ashley Johnson, 5, Emma DeHart, 2, Kiara Moses, 3, and Ashlynn Brown, 2.
USI defeated UMSL 64-54!
USI’s Hannah Haithcock scored over twice as many points as UMSL’s leading scorer, putting away a total of 21 points. Ashley Johnson also scored more than UMSL’s leading scorer with a total of 11 points. Addy Blackwell tied their #2 scorer with 9 points, Kiara Moses their #3, with 8 points, and on down the list.
Ashlynn Brown locked away 7 points total, and both Emma DeHart and Tara Robbe scored 4 a piece. All of this leading to the amazing 64-54 victory over UMSL! Just adding another win to their record of 16-6, 12-4 GLVC.
