17.5 Million People to Miss Work on Super Bowl Monday
For the football lovin’ fans out there, Super Bowl Sunday is the biggest sporting event of the year. Maybe it’s getting together with family and friends to watch the big game, or going out to the bars to celebrate big time. And for those who get together and don’t even watch the game, perhaps it’s for the commercials, or just the snacks. No matter what way you decide to watch or not watch, Super Bowl Sunday seems to be treated like a national holiday. 11.1 million said they planned ahead for this day, asking off Super Bowl Monday in advance. However, this wasn’t the case for 6.2 million people who said they were planning on calling in sick (*cough, cough* hangovers don’t mean you’re sick!) or just not showing up all together (you’re not fooling anyone!)
On top of all this, another 7.9 million people were unsure about their Monday plans, and would wait to decide until the last minute on whether or not to go to work. It’s like Senior Skip Day for adults: Not legitimate day off, an expensive problem for organizations, and can ruin special employee privileges for those who both do and don’t participate in the Super Bowl craze.
And for those of you who did only watch the game for the commercials and/or snacks, the Chiefs beat the 49ers, 31-20.
Or you were this guy…
